Friday, Aug. 19
7PM – 8:30PM
Acción Latina, 2958 24th Street, San Francisco
A collaboration between poet Leticia Hernández-Linares and photographer Michelle Gutiérrez (Cultural Fotografía), supported by San Francisco Arts Commission and Acción Latina. Gutiérrez, captures evicted businesses or places under threat of displacement, while Hernández-Linares crafts accompanying poetic narratives that serves as part caption, part elegy, part frame.
\”Our collaboration memorializes the disappearing face of the neighborhood that baptized us into our artist/activist identities,\” Hernández-Linares said. \”Poems also punctuate the series and speak to the emotions we untangle in ourselves, as photographer and poet, as we work.\”
The duo will be presenting their work and celebrating with friends who will also share poetry. Special guests include Norman Zelaya, Amalia Alvarez, and Tomás Riley. (Poet names may change/grow!)
